Mayor LewisMayor Lewis has served the Village of Dolton for over 20 years demonstrating an aptitude for public service and a true and commitment to Dolton residents, businesses and organizations. The Mayor has worked to offer true leadership in his determination to improve and help maintain the quality of life for the people of Dolton. Mayor Lewis’s goals for the Village  includes a strong emphasis on job creation through economic development, improving public safety, inviting public participation,  and continuing  core investments in Dolton’s infrastructure. Mayor Lewis is an advocate for improving village streets. He is also very active in contributing to the ongoing economic redevelopment of Sibley Boulevard. He welcomes businesses to the Village of Dolton as a positive benefit to revitalizing our community. During his tenure, Mayor Lewis has assisted in bringing quality businesses to the Village of Dolton including:  CVS Pharmacy which opened in 2008 and Food 4 Less which opened in 2009.


Mayor Ronnie C. Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education from Tennessee State University. Valuing education and self-development, the Mayor went on to earn his Master of Arts Degree in Administration and Supervision from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to entering into public service for the Village, Mayor Lewis served as an educator and administrator in Chicago Public Schools.  He worked with Harlan Community Academy (Harlan High School) for over 30 years. During his extended career at Harlan Community Academy, Mayor Lewis also served as Principal, Assistant Principal, Department Chair, and Summer School Program Manager. In addition, he served as Chairperson of Professional Personnel Advisory Committee, as a Union Representative for the Chicago Teachers Union, and as Chairperson of the Professional Problems Committee. He has been the recipient of numerous awards for his achievements in public education, including an endorsement from the Chicago Board of Education at Chicago State University in May of 1998.

Mayor Lewis retired from the position of Assistant Principal in 2000. He is now serving his first elected term as Mayor for the people of Dolton. Mayor Lewis was elected by the residents of the Village of Dolton in the election of April 7, 2009. Mayor Lewis served as Trustee since 1991 prior to his election as Mayor.
